Board of Deacons
The Board of Deacons consists of nine men and nine women, each serving a three year term, who assist the Ministers in the ministry of First Parish and in serving the sacraments and who supervise the spiritual life of our Church. The Board of Deacons consists of four committees. Our meeting schedule is the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30pm in Fellowship Hall.
The Worship Committee coordinates the details of worship services together with the Ministers. In addition, they ensure the Sanctuary is ready for each Sunday’s service, greet worshippers, prepare and serve Communion, and deliver altar flowers to shut-ins.
The Congregational Care Sub-Committee looks to the needs of the members. This includes coordinating Home Communion and the Lay Visitation Program, delivering Easter flowers, and helping resolve transportation issues for those with special needs.
The Hospitality Sub-Committee works with the Pastors to identify newcomers to our church and helps those who desire membership, works with the Parish Partners to take special care of new members through their first year, and organizes the annual 50 Year / New Member Dinner.
The Pastor-Parish Relations Committee maintains lines of communication between the Ministers and the congregation, reviews the goals and objectives of the Ministers, conducts performance appraisals of the Ministers, and in general supports the ministers in fulfilling their ministries.
